Jordan yesterday assumed the presidency of the General Arab Insurance Federation (GAIF) from Oman, during the opening of the Federation's 35th General Conference at the Dead Sea.

The Chairman of the Jordan Insurance Federation (JIF), Engineer Majed Smeirat, received the presidency from the Chairman of the Omani Insurance Association, Mr Nassir Bin Salim Al Busaidi,

Inaugurating the Conference, the Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan, Dr Adel Sharkas, representing His Majesty King Abdullah II, said that the high royal patronage of the Conference confirms the importance that Jordan attaches to the insurance sector, given its growing role in supporting economic activity, enhancing financial stability, providing protection for individuals and institutions, and managing the risks that accompany the development and investment process.

GAIF35 is organised by JIF, in collaboration with GAIF.
