The House of Representatives has, during a plenary session, unanimously adopted a bill to amend the Insurance Code.
Member of the justice and development group Naima El Fathaoui stressed that catastrophic events could cause serious injury and illnesses requiring long-term hospitalisation, leaving victims incapacitated and preventing them from meeting the 20-day deadline for notifying insurers, reported MAP Express.
To remedy this situation and give the insured more time to notify the insurer, it was necessary to extend this period to 60 days, she said. specifying that the system of coverage against the consequences of catastrophic events occurring in Morocco aims to compensate victims of direct damage.
The revised article, when passed, will stipulate that “the insured is required to notify the insurer of the occurrence of any event likely to trigger the latter’s guarantee as soon as he becomes aware of it and at the latest within 60 days of said occurrence”. M
