Egypt: Insurance federation urges alignment with national strategy to drive growth

Source: Middle East Insurance Review | Aug 2026

The Insurers Federation of Egypt (IFE) has called for deeper integration of the insurance sector into national economic strategies, framing the industry as a vital pillar of macroeconomic stability and risk mitigation rather than a simple loss-compensation tool.

The IFE highlighted that insurance does more than protect assets and wealth—it actively stimulates investment, accelerates disaster recovery, promotes financial inclusion, and strengthens social safety nets.

However, the Federation said that the sector must aggressively address pressing challenges, notably the twin issues of climate change and rapid technological disruption. to unlock its full potential.

The Federation recommends the following strategic actions:
  • Adopt comprehensive national strategies to develop the insurance sector, ensuring it is fully integrated into the state’s broader economic development plans.
  • Support innovation in InsurTech to boost operational efficiency and expand market access.
  • Launch intensive, targeted campaigns to educate diverse segments of society on the value of insurance as a vital tool for protection and long-term savings.
  • Develop innovative insurance products tailored to the evolving needs of individuals and businesses, with a specific focus on microinsurance and climate risk coverage.
  • Strengthen supervisory structures to ensure market stability and protect policyholders, while maintaining the flexibility necessary to foster innovation.
  • Encourage regional and international collaboration to exchange expertise, share best practices, and adopt successful global models. M
