The Caisse Nationale de Mutualité Agricole (CNMA), which commands a share of over 75% of the agricultural insurance market in Algeria, has raised awareness of the risks linked to storage silos.
The aim of doing so is to put into effect adequate insurance conditions for better management of risks linked to silos, according to the CNMA.
The insurer organised a seminar on the theme ‘Insurance and management of risks linked to strategic storage installations – the case of silos’, according to a corporate statement by the company.
CNMA said that grain storage silos play a strategic and vital role in the conservation of grains in sufficient quantities, capable of responding to fluctuations in demand and agricultural production.
The insurer noted that the silos could, however, present major environmental and industrial risks. The risks include dust explosions, fires, noise pollution, water pollution, air contamination and malicious acts. M
