Qatar: Takaful sector records US$92m in shareholder profits for 2025

Qatari takaful companies posted profits attributable to shareholders of QAR335m ($92m) in 2025, up 2.7% from 2024, according to Bait Al Mashura Financial Consultations Company.
 
In its report, “Islamic Finance in the State of Qatar”, the company said takaful insurance contributions increased 4.1% to approximately QAR2bn ($549m). Qatar’s takaful companies include Al Khaleej Takaful, Damaan Islamic Insurance (Beema), Qatar Islamic Insurance, and Doha Islamic Insurance, a subsidiary of Doha Insurance Group. Qatar Islamic Insurance recorded the strongest profit growth, with earnings rising 18.8% to about QAR153m, while Beema’s profits increased 12.9%.
 
Takaful contributions grew at a compound annual rate of 7.1% between 2021 and 2025, with Beema recording the highest growth in 2025 at 28.3%, followed by Al Khaleej Takaful at 19.7% and Doha Islamic Insurance at 11.8%. Over the same period, Doha Islamic Insurance recorded the highest compound growth in contributions at 17.3%. Underwriting results were mixed in 2025, with Qatar Islamic Insurance posting the largest insurance surplus at QAR22.5m, followed by Beema at QAR11.8m, Al Khaleej Takaful at QAR10.2m and Doha Islamic Insurance at QAR78,000.
 
The report also found that takaful companies’ total assets increased 5.9% to QAR4.7bn in 2025, from QAR4.4bn in 2024. Beema recorded the strongest asset growth at 20.3%, while policyholders’ assets increased 5% to QAR2.1bn. Beema also recorded the highest growth in policyholders’ assets at 24.1%. M
