Direct insurers in Tunisia reported a total turnover of TND2.53bn ($867.7m) in the first half of 2026, 13% higher compared to the corresponding half of 2025, according to data from the General Insurance Committee (CGA).

This growth was driven by the life insurance segment where premiums grew by 9.4% year on year to TND774.2m, raising the branch’s share of total premiums from 29.0% to 30.6%.

Non-life insurance business increased by 10.4% to TND1.76bn, but its share of total premiums decreased from 71.0% to 69.4%.

Motor insurance maintained its leading position in the non-life market, with premiums reaching TND943.1m in the first six months of this year, 9.3% higher than in 1H2025. Despite the increase in premiums, the share of motor insurance in total premiums decreased from 38.5% to 37.3%. M
