The Turkish Agricultural Insurance Pool (TARSIM) has paid out at least TRY257m ($5.88m) to producers hit by floods in Antalya, where agriculture is among the sectors most affected.
Further payouts of TRY329m are being processed, according to news platform Sigorta Medya. The total amount paid out is at least TRY586m ($13.4m) to date.
Antalya, which lies 700km south of Istanbul, has been buffeted by flooding and water damage over recent weeks, due to heavy rainfall. As of 21 January, 2,287 claims were received under the State-Supported Greenhouse Insurance programme. Of these, 1,218 claims were due to floods and water damage, 202 were attributed to storms, 191 to tornadoes, 634 to hail and 42 to snow weight damage.
