The insurance industry in Lebanon has always been viewed as a leader in the Mena region. With over 50 insurers and gross premiums of US$670 million in 2006, the new insurance law to be enacted is aimed at strengthening the sector and organising the industry players to create a sound regulatory regime operating in harmony to protect consumers and the economy at the same time.
