The Jordan Insurance Federation (JIF) has launched the "Professional Diploma in Insurance" programme in a bid to develop professional competencies and enhance the competitiveness of the country's insurance sector. The initiative was launched in partnership with the Institute of Banking Studies (IBS).

The programme, a pioneering initiative at the Arab regional level, is designed to create Jordanian insurance training curricula equivalent to those adopted by leading global insurance institutes. It is also the result of constructive cooperation between the Federation and the IBS, in coordination with the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ).

JIF chairman of the board, Eng. Majed Smairat, said that this achievement is the result of institutional work and joint efforts involving a distinguished group of experts, academics, and specialists. Cooperation took place with 18 authors and reviewers to prepare the programme’s educational materials, ensuring comprehensive scientific and professional content that reflects the needs and aspirations of the insurance sector while enhancing the quality of professional qualification for its workforce.

He added that the programme reflects the Federation’s belief in investing in human capital as a key pillar in the growth of the insurance sector.

Training and professional qualification

He also explained that the launch of the “Insurance Certificate” as the first stage of the Professional Diploma marks an important milestone in the development of the insurance sector and the enhancement of employees’ competencies.

IBS Director Dr Riyad Al-Hindawi stated that the programme was designed according to the latest training methodologies and accredited professional standards in cooperation with the Federation, and that it will be offered through both the Federation and the Institute.

Dr Ali Al-Wazani, a member of the JIF board and of the Advisory Committee for the Professional Diploma in Insurance, emphasised the sector’s commitment to providing insurance curricula that meet the highest academic and scientific standards while focusing on practical, market-based experience. He also highlighted the importance of scientific documentation, governance, and transparency in authorship, within the framework of the Federation’s efforts to enrich Arab and Jordanian insurance libraries with professional insurance references and to establish a professional training path targeting a broad audience locally and regionally.

JIF CEO Dr Moayad Al-Kloub said that this project constitutes a qualitative addition to the Federation’s journey in training and professional qualification. He pointed out that the Federation has successfully implemented specialised training programmes over the past years that have benefited thousands of professionals in the sector locally and throughout the Arab region.

The programme was launched during a ceremony on 18 May 2026, held under the patronage of CBJ Governor Dr Adel Sharkas and attended by the Minister of Justice, members of the Jordanian Parliament, senior executives of economic institutions in the Kingdom, former ministers, and more than 150 prominent figures representing official institutions, both houses of Parliament, and economic and insurance leadership in Jordan, along with CEOs and general managers of insurance companies, and representatives of financial, banking, and academic institutions.
