Egypt:Insurance federation calls for design of sustainable insurance products to be expanded

| 07 May 2026

The Insurers Federation of Egypt (IFE) has advocated for the development of a broader range of sustainable insurance products that meet environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards.

According to an article on news platform Al Mal News, this will enhance the sector’s role in supporting economic and social stability, while also keeping abreast with global transformations in the insurance industry. It will also emphasise the integration of sustainability into the segment’s future growth strategies.

The IFE also noted that the shift towards sustainability is no longer an option but a strategic necessity imposed by global changes, the acceleration of digital transformation and the rise in risks.

The organisation also highlighted that the success of this trend “depends on the efficiency of human capital and the role of human resources departments in leading change and building an institutional culture that supports sustainability within companies in a continuous and effective manner”.

Key areas for the expansion of product designs include agricultural insurance and microinsurance, natural disaster coverage and renewable energy projects. These products, designed to meet ESG standards, enhance stability for sectors facing medium- to long-term risks. Scaling these offerings creates significant growth opportunities by reaching new customer segments, diversifying premium sources, and improving long-term risk management. Furthermore, it strengthens the Egyptian market's ability to attract international investment, particularly from those prioritising global sustainability standards.
