Algeria:Insurance body launches innnovation and AI hub

| 11 Jan 2026

The Algerian Union of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies (UAR) has launched a hub for innovation and artificial intelligence (AI) on 8 January 2026.

The innovation hub, formed in partnership with specialised academic and technical establishments, is located at the Chahid Abdelhafid-Ihaddaden Scientific and Technological Hub in the new city of Sidi Abdellah near Algiers.

The objective is to stimulate innovation in the insurance sector and integrate AI applications, by encouraging applied research and experimenting with innovative solutions. As part of the hub’s collaboration with universities, students will be trained to enable them to offer innovative digital solutions when the insurance industry recruits them

The General Delegate of the UAR, Mr Abdelhakim Berrah, stressed that the Union will, within the framework of this hub, develop two complementary career paths for the benefit of graduates: the first with an administrative and managerial focus and the second focused on specialised expertise in innovation.

He also indicated that work is continuing on the development of a framework for new professions in the insurance sector.
