The board of directors of Misr Insurance Company, Egypt's biggest non-life insurer, has announced the appointment of Mr Mohamed Mahran as the managing director of the company.
The announcement was made on 14 August 2025. Mr Mahran succeeds Mr Omar Gouda who submitted his resignation on 13 August.
Mr Mahran began his professional career in 1988 with Misr Insurance in the aviation reinsurance department. After five years, he moved to National Cooperative Insurance Company in Saudi Arabia, where he headed the motor underwriting department covering the Central Region. He was promoted to be the head of underwriting for property insurance in 1995.
In 2001, he joined the American Insurance Group in Cairo as executive general manager of claims. In 2006, he was appointed the regional claims manager for the Middle East, where he worked across the GCC.
Mr Mahran served as managing director of Allianz Insurance Egypt from 2012 to 2022. He held the position of CEO and managing director of Misr Insurance Holding Company from 2020 until his latest appointment.
He has also served in several board positions in the insurance sector, including as a board member of the Insurers Federation of Egypt and the Insurance Institute of Egypt.
