Gallagher, one of the world's largest insurance brokerage, risk management and consulting firms, has acquired Türkiye-based Aspera Sigorta ve Reasürans Brokerligi (Aspera). The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
In a statement, Gallagher said, “Aspera was established in 2022 and is a boutique insurance and reinsurance broker specialising in industrial property, power & energy plus construction. The business employs six people and is led by Evrim Ozkoc who will remain with the company and report to Gündüz Tezel, CEO of Gallagher in Türkiye. Aspera will become part of Gallagher’s existing operations in the country, which are headquartered in Istanbul and currently employ 25 risk professionals.
“Since its launch, Aspera has experienced rapid client growth in its target sectors which are anticipated to grow in the region amidst a brightening economic outlook. This move marks further investment by Gallagher as the country increasingly becomes a strategic insurance hub between Asia and Europe.”
Commenting on the acquisition, CEO of Gallagher in Europe, Mr Alex Nagler, said, “Aspera is an ideal addition to our existing business in Türkiye and the specialised sectors the team have built a client base over the last three years that dovetails well with our broader existing client offering. We view Türkiye as a key and strategic market within our European operations and given its growth potential, with confidence growing in the region, we see interesting opportunities for further developments.”
