Members of the Insurance Association of Turkiye (TSB) have elected Mr Ahmet Yasar as the new President of the trade body at a ordinary general assembly held on 8 April.
Mr Yasar, President of Maher Holding Insurance Group, will serve a two-year term. He previously was the TSB’s Vice President. He succeeds Mr Ugur Gulen whose term in the office ended.
He beat three other candidates in the election held at the general assembly.
He has held numerous senior management positions throughout his career. Having played a key role in critical projects at the TSB as Vice President, such as in the digital transformation and financial sustainability of the sector.
Mr Yasar, who is the 22nd TSB President, emphasised the strategic role of the insurance sector in the Turkish economy in his acceptance speech. He said, “We will build a stronger insurance sector through collective wisdom.”
Commenting on the new board of the TSB, details of which will be released at a later date, he said, “Our priorities will include increasing the depth of our sector, spreading insurance awareness to all segments of society, and supporting growth with innovative solutions. Together with all our stakeholders, we will move our sector forward through shared wisdom and strong cooperation.”
