Ethiopia: Non-life insurer launches takaful window

Zemen Insurance, a private non-life insurer, has launched Imani Takaful, a dedicated Shariah-compliant insurance window, expanding the range of insurance services available to Ethiopia’s Muslim community and other customers seeking Islamic insurance solutions.

Launched on 16 October, the takaful window is designed to foster mutual cooperation (Ta’awun), solidarity, and shared prosperity. The window operates under a Wakalah-Mudarabah model, ensuring strict adherence to Islamic jurisprudence and full regulatory compliance with the National Bank of Ethiopia, Zemen Insurance said in a statement.

Imani Takaful products including general takaful portfolios (motor, fire, marine, engineering, liability, and personal accident), are available across Zemen Insurance’s expanding branch network nationwide. M
