Bangladesh: Prime Insurance receives Islamic insurance licence

Prime Insurance Company has been rebranded as Prime Islami Insurance, the company announced.

The makeover followed the company’s obtaining regulatory approval to operate as an Islamic Shariah-based insurer.

The Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA) issued a new registration certificate on 18 February 2026, following clearances from the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms, Dhaka Stock Exchange, Chittagong Stock Exchange and other relevant authorities.

The company, established in 1996, offers non-life Shariah-compliant services in Bangladesh. M
