Oman: Integration of health organisations with the Dhamani platform making steady progress

Source: Middle East Insurance Review | Feb 2025

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) of Oman has started to link the electronic Dhamani platform online to the sultanate’s private health polyclinics and clinics. To begin with the FSA has added around 33 private hospitals in various governorates of Oman to the platform.

Also, the FSA is continuously evaluating the efficiency of the platform in the linking phase which is focussing on private hospitals in the initial phase. The electronic health platform links private health institutions, insurance companies, health insurance claims administrators and official entities to handle patients’ medical data and health insurance claims between insurance and health institutions with ease and transparency.

FSA media spokesperson Majid bin Ahmed al Abri told media that the Dhamani platform has commenced providing its services in regulating the health insurance market in the Sultanate of Oman. This is a proactive step aimed at measuring the actual user experience to assess the efficiency of the platform.

He said so far 33 private hospitals have been registered on the platform, in addition to all insurance companies and health insurance claims administrators. The number of transactions completed through the platform touched around 500,000 during October 2024 to mid-December 2024.

The FSA has developed the legislative and technical structure of the health insurance market by updating the laws related to health insurance. These guarantee the rights of individuals and companies and enhance the role of the FSA in monitoring the insurance markets and ensuring that the companies comply with the specified laws and standards.

In addition, with the application of IT and digital systems, the subscription procedures, claims and payment of compensation will be much smoother, which would contribute to improving efficiency and speed of service. M
