Mr Lebbou Mohammed Lamine was appointed Minister of Finance, following a partial cabinet reshuffle carried out on 1 September 2026 by the President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
In this capacity, Mr Lebbou also became the Chairman of the National Insurance Council (CNA), the insurance regulator said in a statement.
With a strong professional background, Mr Lebbou has held several positions in the banking sector. His immediate past position was that of Governor of the central bank, the Bank of Algeria, which he assumed on 23 February 2026.
