Middle East Insurance Review (MEIR), in solidarity with the insurance market, has started a special series named "Middle East Conflict: The MEIR Dialogue" to discuss the insurance impact of the armed confrontation across MENA as well as globally. The series continues with an interview with Emirates Insurance CEO Jason Light.
In the interview, Mr Light said that the vast majority of policies written by the regional industry contain war risk exclusions, so exposure at the policy level is limited. Many insureds across the region have had experiences going through similar political crises over the past few decades, going back all the way to the First Gulf War, and the procedures that insurers have activated are very familiar and well understood. He stressed that normal life for residents within the UAE is continuing as normal, and the response from the insurance community to this crisis is exactly as it is expected to be.
