| 25 Mar 2026

The insurance sector in the UAE remained healthy in 2025, with robust capital adequacy ratios and return on assets, according to the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE).

In its “Quarterly Economic Review – March 2026”, the CBUAE said that the insurance market generated Gross Written Premiums of AED75.2bn ($20.5bn) in 2025, rising by 15.5% year on year, driven primarily by growth in property and liability insurance premiums.

P&C insurance premiums rose by 19.2% year on year to AED31.4 bn, health insurance premiums by 13.5% to AED35.5bn and life insurance and fund accumulation premiums by 11.2% year on year to AED8.3bn, resulting primarily from an increase in group life insurance premiums. Inflation in the UAE averaged 1.3% in 2025.
