Tunisia is entering a new phase of digitalisation in the insurance sector with the launch of the first mobile application for motor accident reporting.
The app, named E-Constat, started operating on 1 November, according to the Tunisian Federation of Insurance Companies (FTUSA). The app is available for download on Google Play and the Apple App Store. This new system improves communication between the insured and the insurer.
The goal of this app is to facilitate accident reporting and expedite claims processing. It allows drivers to file accident reports via their smartphones, without resorting to traditional paper forms, reported The Tunisian Press. It is expected to bring about a significant change in the way road accidents are managed and handled in Tunisia, and to make digital technology a tool for road safety and responsible citizenship.
This initiative comes at a time when Tunisia is suffering from a significant increase in the number of road accidents, with more than 6,800 accidents recorded since the beginning of the year, according to data from the National Road Safety Observatory.
The new app allows users to photograph vehicle damage and the site of the accident, precisely locate its geographical position, enter the data of the parties involved, describe the circumstances of the accident using several integrated tools and attach the photos taken as well as the digital sketch of the accident, before sending them electronically directly to the insurance company.
The app covers all types of claims – collision, broken glass, fire, theft, etc – whether or not a third party is involved. In case of disagreement between drivers, each can submit their own sketch or report.
In this way, the time spent on procedures is reduced, disputes on the ground between drivers are avoided, and the processing of claims by insurance companies is accelerated. Traffic congestion is minimised because the on-site reporting process is easy.
Accident reports filed via the app are recognised by insurance companies that are FTUSA members.
