Tunisia:Regulator promotes digital insurance services

| 05 Oct 2025

Tunisia is preparing to modernise its motor insurance system with the imminent launch of the "Auto Insurance 2.0" system, said Ms Jouda Khemiri, president of the General Insurance Committee (CGA).

She said that the objective is to digitalise all procedures, from the issuance of insurance policies to the filing of reports, according to The Tunisian Press.

This strategic project, led by the Prime Minister's Office, is being carried out in collaboration with the Ministries of Transport, Interior, and Finance, as well as the Tunisian Federation of Insurance Companies (FTUSA). It aims to centralise all vehicle data on a single digital medium in order to simplify procedures, increase transparency, and combat fraud. This is part of a broader drive to digitise the sector.

At the same time, a legal framework for online insurance services is being developed. The proposed framework, currently under consideration by Parliament, aims to promote financial inclusion and broaden access to insurance services throughout the country.

The CGA is working on two fronts: strengthening its regulatory role (with the digitisation of licences, documents, and exchanges) and improving collaboration with insurance companies, particularly through shared platforms.
