The Turkish Catastrophe Insurance Pool (TCIP), known also as DASK, has disclosed that it had paid over TRY39.7bn ($1.1bn at the current exchange rate) to date in claims related to damages from the massive 6 February 2023 earthquakes that devastated 11 provinces.
The disclosure was made in conjunction with the second anniversary of the 6 February Kahramanmaras-centered earthquakes. Over the past two years, efforts were continued to help the 11 provinces affected by the disaster get back on their feet.
According to DASK, a total of over TRY39.7bn of compensation was paid for approximately 630,000 claims lodged with the institution as of February this year.
Meanwhile, working in cooperation with insurance companies, agencies and banks, DASK ensures the issuance of Compulsory Earthquake Insurance (ZDS) policies through insurance companies, agencies and bank branches.
