Morocco:Cyber emerges as top risk

| 28 Jan 2025

Cyber threats have emerged as the primary concern for businesses operating in Morocco, according to a recent survey conducted by Allianz.

The Allianz Risk Barometer 2025, which assesses the risks and concerns faced by companies in over 100 countries, indicates a significant surge in cyber-related anxieties among Moroccan enterprises.

58% of Moroccan companies identified cyberattacks as one of the most critical threats they face, marking a substantial increase from the 29% recorded in the previous year’s survey.

This dramatic rise shows the growing apprehension among Morocco’s business community regarding the escalating risks posed by cybercriminals.

While cyber threats dominated the concerns of Moroccan businesses, natural catastrophes ranked second on the list.

46% of respondents said they’re concerned about the potential impact of natural disasters, while 17% said climate change is a major worry.

23% of surveyed companies said they’re worried about the potential effects of emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, and 12% cited reputational damage as a significant risk.

Globally, the Allianz Risk Barometer revealed that cyber incidents, business interruption, and natural catastrophes are the top three risks faced by businesses worldwide.
