The insurance market reported after-tax profit of TRY140.9bn ($2.8bn) for the first nine months of this year, 11.9% higher compared to TRY125.8bn in the corresponding period last year. However, the profitability margin decreased from 14.69% to 12.90%.
The net profits were generated on the back of total premiums of TRY1.09tn ($21.7bn) in the first nine months of this year, 27.5% higher than in the corresponding period in 2025, according to data from the Insurance Association of Turkiye (TSB).
Total technical profit from non-life, life, and pension activities reached TRY154.1bn in the first nine months of the year, increasing by 16.15%.
One reason for this was that the technical losses in the compulsory motor third-party liability insurance branch fell by TRY16bn to TRY25.6bn in the first three quarters of the year from TRY41.6bn in the corresponding period in 2025. However, the comprehensive motor insurance branch’s technical profit decreased to TRY19.1bn from TRY23.3bn.
