The Arab War Risk Insurance Syndicate (AWRIS) has elected Dr Ali Al Wazaney as Chairman of its Technical Board for 2026-2029.
Dr Al Wazaney is the CEO of GIG Jordan. He has more than 30 years of professional experience and has made significant contributions to the development of the insurance industry in Jordan and the Arab world.
The AWRIS General Assembly, which was held in July, also elected Mr Sultan Alkhomashi as Vice Chairman of the Technical Board. He is the CEO of the General Sector at Tawuniya.
Other elected members of the new Technical Board include CEO of GIG Egypt and Chairman of Insurers Federation of Egypt Mr Alaa El-Zoheiry; CEO of Bahrain Kuwait Insurance Company (gig Bahrain) and Chairman of Bahrain Insurance Association Dr Abdulla Sultan; CEO of AROPE Lebanon Mr Fateh Bekdash; CEO of Tunis Reinsurance Company Mrs Lamia Ben Mahmoud; General Manager of National Insurance Company of Iraq Mrs Enas Fouad Naguib,; CEO of GIG Kuwait Mr Ali Al-Hendal; and CEO of Doha Insurance Group Mr Jassim Ali Al-Muftah.
Established in 1980, AWRIS serves as the leading war risks insurance syndicate in the Arab region, with the primary goal of protecting the interests of national and regional insurance markets.
