The National Agricultural Mutual Fund (CNMA) has announced that it would launch a new product for investors and farmers to insure their daily or seasonal workers hired during the various agricultural seasons for short periods.
Called "Saisonnier Agricole", the new product will be launched through CNMA’s subsidiary Le Mutualiste. It aims to offer comprehensive coverage adapted to the needs of seasonal workers in the event of accidents occurring during farm work, reported the Algerian Press Service quoting a CNMA press release.
"The launch of this new product through the agricultural mutual network will probably coincide with the start of the next 2024-2025 ploughing-sowing period," CNMA said. The network’s 70 regional funds and 570 local offices will distribute the product.
Highlighting the importance of the new product, CNMA explains that it is part of its fundamental insurance role to promote agriculture and ensure the sustainability of this strategic sector.
"The sector is characterised by seasonal activities throughout the year, particularly during harvest-threshing, ploughing-sowing, date picking, and tree and olive growing.”
CNMA says that "Saisonnier Agricole" has been designed and adapted to the varying needs of different agricultural seasons with an affordable premium for a wide range of agricultural workers to maximise their welfare while meeting the needs of investors and farmers.
