Provisional results for BH Assurance show that GWP grew by 13% to reach TND199.5m ($62.8m) in 2024 compared to TND176.m in the previous year, according to a company disclosure lodged with the Tunis Stock Exchange.
Most of the growth came from life insurance businesses as it reached TND88.7m in 2024 versus TND73.4m in 2023, an increase of 21%. Non-life insurance business posted a growth rate of 7% as premiums reached TND110.8m in 2024 against TND103.2m in the preceding year.
Paid claims by the end of 2024 reached TND124m against TND88.9m in the previous year, showing a notable increase of 40%. The company’s statement attributed this increase to two significant, but heavily reinsured, fire claims, as well as to life capitalisation contracts that have expired. In s0s4, total non-life paid claims reached TND92m (up from TND68.4m in 2023) while life insurance paid claims reached TND32m (from TND20.5m in 2023).
Investment income for the past year showed an increase of 14% as it reached TND30m compared to TND26.2m achieved in 2023.
