Misr Insurance Holding Group (MIHC) has named Mrs Bahia Ahmed Ismail as executive managing director of the company effective 23 January 2025. She will also be the representative of the Sovereign Fund of Egypt, the owner of MIHC since 2023.
Mrs Ismail takes over from Mohammed Mahran who decided to step down for personal reasons, a statement by MIHC has said. She has extensive experience in the fields of investment and banking where she spent over 20 years as managing director and chief investment officer – private equity at Concord International Investments. She also served as credit manager – corporate banking at Egypt’s Commercial International Bank for around five years. Mrs Ismail is also a board member at several entities representing MIHC.
MIHC was established in 2006 as a parent holding company to look after the state-owned insurance companies in Egypt including its general arm Misr Insurance and life provider Misr Life. In 2017, the holding company established Misr for Takaful Insurance (Property & Liability); and in 2022 it established Misr for Takaful Life Insurance along with Misr Finance Company for financial services.
