Casablanca-headquartered Société Centrale de Réassurance (SCR) has adopted a new name - Atlantic Re - as part of a strategic transformation driven by a clear ambition to consolidate leadership at home while accelerating regional expansion.

With a revenue of around MAD3.8bn ($410m) in 2024 of which approximately 30% is generated from international operations, Atlantic Re is on a trajectory of continuous growth, both in Morocco and in the Middle East and Africa.

The Moroccan reinsurer says the rebranding aligns with King Mohammed VI’s vision for a Morocco that spearheads African economic development through strategic partnerships and regional influence.

Atlantic Re embodies a national ambition. It expresses our will to contribute to a more resilient, more influential Morocco, oriented toward Africa,” the company’s CEO Ms Ouafae Mriouah said.

Atlantic Re's transformation is based on its Reach2030 strategic plan, which sets out five objectives:

  • Strengthen national and continental leadership by consolidating achievements in Morocco and supporting the emergence of regional insurance markets

  • Reinvent customer relationships by providing greater proximity, responsiveness, and tailor-made solutions to partners

  • Develop influence and visibility by actively participating in regional sector dynamics and strengthening strategic partnerships

  • Strengthen financial and technical solidity by optimising capacity utilisation and improving risk and performance management.

  • Develop talent and corporate culture by focusing on skills development and promoting a culture of “Responsibility, Excellence, and Citizenship”.

Established in 1960, Atlantic Re is a subsidiary of Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion (CDG), a state-owned investment entity. Atlantic Re carries out business in more than 70 markets in Africa, the Middle East and Asia, and has more than 500 clients. It has three regional offices in Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire), Kigali (Rwanda) and Cairo (Egypt).
