Heavy investments in insurer digital capabilities are now paying off in Bahrain, GIG Gulf general manager Bahrain Ahmed Marhamat Jahromi said to Middle East Insurance Review.
For instance, Mr Jahromi said GIG Gulf is now considered a leading digital-first insurer in Bahrain due to the realisation of seamless digital experiences for policyholders and collaboration with regulatory authorities to develop the market.
From an operational perspective, the company’s in-house operations are also driven by AI and robotics, thus enabling the insurer to provide services to a large number of customers and huge volumes of claims, he said.
For consumers, the company launched a real-time, geolocation-based application in 2022 for motor claims that offers policyholders speed and transparency. More recently, a user-friendly motor insurance platform with a quick purchase experience for micro-enterprises was introduced to meet rising demand from this customer segment.
Digital resilience
To ensure digital resilience and protection of potentially sensitive personal data of policyholders, Mr Jahromi said a “robust cyber security framework that aligns with internationally recognised standards” has become part of his company’s operations.
He said, “This commitment is supported by continued investments in advanced technologies, comprehensive employee training and the implementation of stringent internal controls.”
