The winners of the 11th Middle East Insurance Industry Awards were the cream of the crop, selected by a high-powered 20-member judging panel who chose from 150 entries representing the region’s top insurers.
The 11th Middle East Insurance Industry Awards (MIIA) honoured 19 winners on 27 November 2024 in a ceremony at Atlantis the Palm, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. With a pool of 150 entries spanning 19 categories, this year’s awards boasted a fiercely competitive field, a sign of the exceptional standards and achievements across Middle East insurance. Launched in 2014, the MIIA remain the region’s most rigorous and coveted accolades in the industry.
In a nod to innovation and advancement, Tawuniya received Digital Transformation of the Year and Merimen Technologies took InsurTech of the Year.
In the lead categories, Algerian Gulf Life Insurance scored for Life Insurance Company of the Year, Tawuniya for General Insurance Company of the Year and Bupa Arabia for Health Insurance Company of the Year.
In broking, Marsh and Guy Carpenter Middle East led the field as Broker of the Year and Reinsurance Broker of the Year, respectively.
The MGA award, in its second year, went to elseco for its standout contributions to the market.
Individual excellence was also in the spotlight: Mr Abdulla Al Khatib of Emirates National Oil was named Corporate Risk Manager of the Year and Ms Lina Hantas of Westfield Specialty (ME) received Woman Leader of the Year. Mr Mohammed Al Meraj of Bahrain National Insurance earned Young Leader of the Year for his exceptional achievements.
In the reinsurance category, International General Insurance took General Reinsurer of the Year and Reinsurance Group of America (RGA) won Life Reinsurer of the Year.
NAS Neuron Services got the award for TPA of the Year and Solidarity Bahrain was honoured as Takaful Company of the Year.
The awards also acknowledged Chartered Insurance Institute for Educational and Training Initiative of the Year, Badri Management Consultancy as Strategic Partner to the Industry and Clyde & Co as Law Firm of the Year for their services to the sector.
The evening’s highest tribute, Insurance Industry Leader of the Year, was reserved for Mr Fahad Al-Hesni, for his visionary leadership and lasting influence in the industry.

A panel of 20 distinguished judges was involved in the assessment of the nominations this year. The results were audited by EY.
