Morocco: Competition Council gap analysis on insurance sector

The Competition Council (CC) has pointed out major structural challenges facing the insurance market and other important sectors of the economy, stressing the urgent need to promote genuine competition.
 
It called for a thorough review of market practices to strengthen the resilience of the Moroccan economy and to improve conditions for consumers.
 
The CC’s analysis of the insurance sector showed domination by a small number of long-established players. High capital requirements had hindered the entry of new competitors limiting innovation and the diversity of products offered, it said. M
