Saudi Arabia: Direct channel dominates sales but market share dips

Source: Middle East Insurance Review | Jun 2024

The sales of insurance policies directly by insurance companies still dominate the Saudi insurance market, as the percentage of policies sold through insurers was around 50.3% in 2023, compared to 46.1% through insurance brokers and 3.6% by insurance agencies.

Nevertheless, brokers have gained some ground as the percentage of sales through them increased during the past year, rising from 43.4%, according to data from the Insurance Authority.

The share of online sales through insurance brokerage platforms increased from 7.7% to 11.5% of the total insurance premiums in 2023 and the share of sales through insurance agencies decreased from 4.6% in 2022 to 3.6% in 2023. M
